ALICIA DECASTRO
MEET THE OWNER
Alicia is the founder and owner of Fundati Coffee brand. She is also a certified nutrition & health coach, yoga teacher, and running coach.
As a Rhode Island native, Alicia grew up in the local communities surrounding Fundati’s physical location. Starting Fundati was a mission to create a community that did not yet exist in the local area; one that would satisfy the craving of specialty handcrafted beverages, provided in an experiential way, both in the quality of our coffee and the energy of our space.
What most people may not think about when stepping into the shop and enjoying their cup is how the beans are sourced from farms around the world and what kind of impact this sourcing decision can make throughout the whole circle of life in the coffee industry. We are so grateful to have access to farms and farmers around the world. It is our top priority to ensure that we create equity for them and their respective communities.
Sustainability of Wellbeing
Our beans are fair trade certified or verified living income certified through Bellwether. We source green coffee beans so that we can pay a high enough price that supports farmers and their communities.
Roasted In House
All of our beans are roasted in house on our micro roaster that emits zero CO2 emissions. Big picture fun fact: Throughout the course of 1 month of roasting, we save enough CO2 emissions that would equate to saving 1 tree.
Mindful Ingredients
Every ingredient matters. From the quality of our beans, the milks and flavors added in beverages, to the food we create and serve, we source locally when possible, and make everything fresh, with as minimal and wholesome ingredients possible.
“It takes a village” is a phrase we fully embrace at Fundati. We want to highlight and thank all of the hands that helped build Fundati and every community member that contributes to the collective energy we are creating & rippling.
If you are reading this, you too are a part of it and we thank you so much for being here!
OUR PEOPLE
OUR BEANS
A lot of care goes into every micro batch that we roast before bagging or brewing our beans for you, and we would not want it any other way!
