How to Perfect Your Morning Coffee Ritual: An Essential #WFH Guide

You can tell a lot about a person just by noticing their coffee habits. 

Are you the type to roll out of bed after snoozing for 30 minutes, pop in a K-cup and scroll through social as you wait for your coffee to pour, then hop on the laptop for a day full of work? Perhaps you prefer to start your day with a handcrafted pour over or moka pot method. However you perfect your morning cup, your daily coffee routine is the perfect time to pause, reflect and embrace a slower pace offering an opportunity to create space for yourself so that you can set the tone and pace of your day.

As light dawns in the morning and spreads its rays of beauty over the earth, rise with the sun, open your blinds, and let the sun’s quiet warmth kiss your face as you set intentions for your day. 

Stand in the sunlight while gently stretching your body, focusing on the breath and hold space in your heart for what you’re most grateful for. Create A Coffee Ritual:

Coffee is our favorite indulgence, so we use this aspect of the daily routine to spend a few extra minutes savoring the luxuries of the morning before pouring our attention into a demanding workday. 

Shifting our daily routine habits into a mindful ritual practice offers the opportunity to be present with your coffee experience, taking in all the sensory experiences that come with it: 

  • Inhale the aromas of the first pour

  • Pay attention to the coffee blooming

  • Linger in the morning sunlight as it beams through your kitchen windows while your coffee is brewing

  • Grab your favorite mug and savor each sip 

  • Maybe jot down some mind notes in your journal before starting the work day to set sacred time and space for yourself while also getting the creative juices flowing 

On mornings when you’re already distracted the moment you roll out of bed, carving the time and space for your coffee ritual is an essential reminder to pull your attention back and recenter your focus in connection with coffee and nature.

Embrace the grounding essence of coffee; honor where the beans came from, the hands that brought the plants to life and moved them from the farm to your cup safely. Recognize the notion that you are having something as close as it came from the ground.
